When raising Birmingham Rollers it is very important to house your flying birds seperately from the breeders. There are a couple reasons for this. First is that the flyers require a different diet than the breeders. You also want to segregate your birds into teams according to age, performance or whatever criteria you feel is important. Next and I think most importantly is that you do not want to fly a hen that is about to lay. She can roll the egg out of her which can injure or even kill the hen.
